In your literature circles, choose a passage that has something to do with nature from EITHER: Chapter 16 (A Forest Walk), Chapter 17 (The Pastor and his Parishioner), Chapter 18 (A Flood of Sunshine), or Chapter 19 (The Child at the Brookside)

As a group, look up paintings (research) from the following list of painters:
Pick one the "fits" with the overall tone/mood/images of your passage. Keep in mind notes on Romanticism and Lewis' commentary!
Pair your painting with the passage
- Allow members time to search and find.
- Then, pick the best and read the passage as a group
- Annotate for the following:
- TONE- look at diction, detail, imagery
- CONNECTIONS to comments made by Lewis (above)
- Words that illustrate Romantic view of nature (see "Scarlet Letter HOME" page... scroll down)
